Hello! My name is Lori Brown, and I am the University and Special Needs Pastor here at First Baptist Plainview. My husband Donnie works at Wayland, and we are blessed to have three amazing children: Joshua and his wife Abi, and Hannah. Prior to working in ministry, I was a Speech-Language Pathologist for many years and enjoyed working with people of all ages with numerous challenges and disabilities.
I have been actively involved in the lives of university students since I was a student myself. College students are so full of energy and excitement for this next stage in their lives, and I love getting to be a part of that time when they are trying to discover their identity and who God wants them to be. I love getting to know them and investing in their lives while they are here in our community.
Individuals with special needs hold a special place in my heart, and I am so excited about the opportunity to invest in the lives of those who face unique challenges in life, and to offer a place where they can meet God and be involved in a loving church family.
A favorite verse in our family is found in 1 Corinthians 10: 31 which says, "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God." It is my hope that our university students and those with special needs will find a home here at First Baptist where they can use their God-given gifts to serve Him and to serve our community.
